Project 52: Week 25 ~ Father's

Fathers are amazing!!
So many words can describe a father...
Hard Working, Strong, Blessing, Creative, Gentle, Fun, Spontaneous, Committed, Integrity, Reliable, Proud, Generous, Forgiving, Cook, Sympathetic, Unique, 

(Occasionally Selfish)...LOL...
the list is long.

In honor of this week's theme, the photo was taken during the father-daughter dance of a country-lovin' gal's wedding...She wore her cowgirl boots with the wedding dress.

Thankful for slow shutter speed, the photo depicts fast moving feet.  

What it doesn't show, is the love in this man's eyes, as he held his little girl.

It was 'their' time.

One rare chance, for this father, to have his little girl in his arms for their special dance.

Project 52: Week 24 ~ Sunlight

Severe Thunderstorms passed through, last evening. The storm came on quickly and left just as fast, leaving a large rainbow and a red sky.
The photo below was taken from inside the screened-in patio, showing the sunset lighting (through the trees) in the distance.

Project 52: Week 23 ~ Water

This week's theme is water.  I couldn't help but think of our lake...and because the water was so calm, I was daring enough to bring my camera on an evening kayak jaunt.

I took a lot of fun photos...but, this one depicted the evening the best.

Project 52: Week 21~ Favorites

This week's theme is FAVORITES. 

Traveling to Mammoth Springs with my husband, we witnessed such beautiful colors, where the flowing waters spill across the surface to sculpt magnificent travertine limestone terraces.  The water trickles over the edges from one to another, blending them together with the effect of a frozen waterfall.

The constantly changing topography of the area is a reminder of how fragile our earth is. 

I was totally in awe of the sites we witnessed...a favorite trip, for sure!

This is SOOC.  

Any changes with editing were not realistic.  The steam, the pale blue sky, and the subtle color changes are all real.

Project 52: Week 20 ~ Mothers

We were able to make a visit to my Mother-in-law's home, for Mother's Day

...and I really wanted to capture her hands for this week's theme.

Hands have such a story on their own.

I got this shot as she was tasting her son's Blue Moon Beer (she is NOT a beer drinker).

I snapped this photo as she was studying the Red Lobster Menu...her favorite place to eat.

She looks pretty wonderful at almost 88 years old!!

Project 52: Week 19 ~ Still Life

This week's Project is Still Life.

 I must admit I had trouble with this topic. (Hence, not posting until late in the week).

[I am still having focus problems...but, the colors are sure beautiful!]

Project 52: Week 18 ~ May 5 Fiesta or Siesta

I really should shoot a photo of what I am eating...[out of a ziploc snack bag, a black bean salsa left over from a Cinco de Mayo party].  However, my photo for this week is the beginning of Pico de Gallo.  Grape tomatoes.  Dice these up and add diced red onion, jalapenos, garlic, juice of 2 limes, cilantro...and don't forget the chips! YUM!!

(A side note: I had to look up Cinco de Mayo to find out more about this holiday.  I thought it was the Mexican Independence Day. However, they celebrate, in the US, Cinco de Mayo, as a celebration of Mexican Heritage and Pride.  Mexico's Independence Day is actually on September 16).

Project 52: Week 16 ~ Things that Grow

Things that grow...I will have fun watching this baby-bump expand!!

I am so excited to have another little grandbaby to hold!!

Project 52: Week 15 ~ Sacrifice

This week's theme is Sacrifice. 
I am not sure why I had so much trouble coming up with a photo idea.  It could be I see sacrifice, everyday.  Parents with a disabled son, give up a lot of time to make sure he gets therapy and so much more. Another couple with a one year old, sacrifice their time away from him in order to balance finances and keep their family strong.  Parents of another one-year-old, tolerate long-distance travels (leaving a mother home alone with her child and a father missing his family).   A young man who has sacrificed years and years to become a surgeon.  A husband who works more than full time, in order to support his family. A beautiful couple, in Florida, who raised a family by sacrificing their time, earnings, and more -- in so many ways -- giving up everything for their three girls.

Each sacrifice is done because of LOVE. 

During my hour drive to work, I randomly shot photos out my car window.  This photo reminds me of the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE...also done because of LOVE.

He is not here; he has risen! Luke 24:6

P52: Week 14 ~ Fooling Around

Fridays, when I am off work, I am so lucky to bring my grandson to the Library for Reading Hour. Patiently waiting and participating,with the other little ones, he seems happiest to explore the aisles of the books when the hour is complete. Fooling around @ the library, (as a toddler), can be fun!!

I have to add one more 'fooling around' photo.  Two 1-year-old grandsons were playing with building toys and 'fooling around' as they got in a friendly wrestling match. (love&laughter!)

P52: Week 13 ~ Details

We have the coolest pussy willow tree in our yard.
The little "fuzzy" pussy willow has already flowered: (I am soooo happy to have my new - 'new' 7D!)

Project 52 ~ Week 12: Hunger

We had so much fun at the family get-together and celebrate Carsen's 4th birthday this past weekend!! He is usually not one to feed himself. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, he prefers others to feed him. It was such a joy to watch him dig into his birthday cake and devour that almond flavoring!! (YUM...I liked it too!)

Project 52 ~ Week 10: Be Still

Be Still

A weekend away, while my husband took a nap, I put the hotel glasses in front of the window to snap a few photos. I love that the glass looks like it offers a 'drink of the city life'...and realize, in the base of the glass, the still cityscape is more clear than anything else in the photo. (It was a surprise to me when I downloaded this to the computer).

Project 52 ~ Week 9: A Great Leap

This week's theme is A Great Leap. It was only 7 degrees outside, so I was surprised to see that the sunshine brought these water droplets to life... they appear to leap off the icicle as they escape to play. I love how the blue sky peeks through the evergreen trees in the background.

This last photo reminds me of a ballerina as she LEAPS in her springy steps with an Entrechat.
