To answer your question regarding the macro lens, I love my 100mm macro; if you can get one, good for you! My brother has the L-series, and I have the "regular" one (both Canon). It takes a little getting used to (depth of field REALLY comes into play and a tripod is essential), but once you figure things out with a little experimentation, it is awesome to use. I hope you can get one soon with flower season in full bloom (pardon the pun!)!
